Concept Distributing’s Al McBeth has done it again, this time on a sand to sand jump in CoosBay Oregon. The venue was 2017 UTV TakeOver which took place June 14-18. TakeOver is one of the largest gatherings of UTV/ATV riders on the West coast. With its 6,000 acres of incredible terrain and an annual attendance of over 10,000 UTV enthusiasts, this is probably the fastest growing free entry UTV event on the planet.
This free event includes, just naming a few: drag racing, short course style racing, group rides, Show-N-Shine, live music, barrel racing, treasure hunt, an impressive vendors row and the main event: HUCKFEST.
A large number of UTVs of all makes and models lined up to compete for the Huckfest title this year. Each driver had one practice jump and three attempts in the competition to send his/her UTV as far as they could off the machine-groomed sand jump.
But it was McBeth that jumped his Polaris RZR XP Turbo the furthest. According to Concept Distributing’s web site, McBeth said he was going to break the record for the World’s longest jump in a UTV and he didn’t want to break it by a few inches, he was going to shatter it! He finally touched down in the sand at 154 feet to be crowned the 2017 Huckfest Champion and bring another record home with him to Canada. The record jump was set on June 17, 2017 at Boxcar Hill Campground and McBeth used his specially designed single-seat Polaris RZR XP Turbo.

McBeth also won the 2017 Sand Outlaws Short Course race the day before, again in a Polaris RZR XP Turbo. This race saw almost 30 competitors where two drivers are set off simultaneously on the same track but competing on two separate lanes of equal length. This event is organized as a single elimination pattern: the loser in each race becomes a spectator.
Planning for a bigger and better 2018 UTV Takeover event is already underway. This family friendly event shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon.
